School law 101/201
This course equips educators and school leaders with essential legal knowledge for today’s school environment and is great for alt licensure candidates/graduates. School Law 101 covers the basics—including student and staff rights, discipline, free speech, special education, and liability—offering a solid legal framework for daily decision-making in schools. School Law 201 builds on that foundation with deeper dives into more complex topics such as employee due process, Title IX compliance, investigations, and navigating policy in high-stakes or rapidly evolving situations. Participants will leave with a stronger grasp of their legal responsibilities and greater confidence in applying the law to real-world school scenarios.

This session equips educators with practical tools to build trust and connection with students while maintaining clear boundaries. Participants will learn to build positive relationships with students and avoid the appearance of impropriety.

Scenario based and facilitated by an experienced school attorney/leader. Participants are encouraged to bring problems of practice to the roundtable members, who share their experiences and brainstorm solutions. These roundtables have proven to be highly effective when repeated monthly/quarterly.
